Norfolk is home to some of the best campsites in the country. With some inland and some coastal, you have plenty of options when you choose to camp in this beautiful county. The Broads attract millions of campers every year, and the seaside towns from North Norfolk down to the Suffolk border are incredibly popular with visitors. We personally love Southwold, one of our favourite places to camp as a family.
The team here at Norwich Camping & Leisure have put together a list of 5 incredible campsites we would recommend in Norfolk for your camping trips. These are popular sites, so if we’ve tempted you by the end of this post, we would recommend booking your spot in the peak season to avoid disappointment.
One of the closest campsites to our store, Clippesby Hall is open all year round, ideal for those wanting to get away during the winter months. The family team that runs the site has invested in their campsite and parkland over the last few years and built a lovely new basecamp bar and restaurant area with a pizza oven and log burner, alongside the check-in office and mini supermarket.
Clippesby Hall sits at the top of the site with wonderful gardens to explore. There is lots of woodland to discover, along with mini golf, a games room, lodges to rent and bike routes to the broads. This campsite really has something for everyone.
This one is always recommended by our customers. A great spot on the coast with its own section of Waxham Beach, a spacious open field, and grass pitches with available mains hookups, this campsite is ideal for tents and tourers.
There are two play areas for the children, a communal safari tent with games, a Vendor food court, a communal firepit, a playing field, a beach toy library, table tennis, a boules court, a herb garden, a nature area and a laundry room.
The campsite is just a short walk to the sandy beach of Horsey Gap where you can hopefully catch a glimpse of the seals. To clean up after your trip, there is a doggy shower for the dogs and an outdoor beach shower for the humans.
Deer’s Glade is a beautiful family getaway, nestled in the stunning North Norfolk countryside between Aylsham and Cromer. Surrounded by ancient woodland and just a short distance from the sunny Norfolk coastline, Deer’s Glade features excellent amenities including a playground, shop, fishing and so much more. Tents, caravans and campervans are all welcome on the site’s variety of pitches. If glamping is more your thing, there is a lovely shepherd’s hut and a selection of bell tents and glamping pods to choose from.
The lovely Buckenham Country Park is nestled a short distance from Norwich and the exciting Snetterton Race Track. Their beautiful campsite allows you to embrace the picturesque scenery of Norfolk, with the opportunity of adventures, peaceful retreats, or fun family holidays. Bring your caravan, campervan, motorhome or tent, or stay in one of the park’s tin huts or wooden lodges.
There is a lot to see in and around Old Buckenham Country Park, including the yearly balloon festival. This weekend is not to be missed and if the weather is good, you’ll see plenty of colourful and majestic balloons launch.
Within Boards National Park, surrounded by 80 acres of country park and just a 15-minute bike ride from Norwich city centre, sits Whitlingham Broad Campsite by Whitlingham Lake.
This site is perfect for camping or campervanning, but for those wanting a slightly different experience, there are bell tents, a yurt, shepherd’s huts, converted goods wagons, and incredible woodland dens to stay in.
Large, family-friendly washrooms with toilets, showers and an outside wash-up area make this site ideal for families of any size. The on-site campsite shop sells essentials and snacks and offers phone charging points for those who need them.
